Die Zauberflöte – Opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s celebrated opera is open to a number of different interpretations. It can be seen as a fabulous magic play, or as a mystical work of symbolism, as a perpetual confrontation between Good and Evil, or as a humanistic message. The Magic Flute has been performed at the Wiener Staatsoper more than a thousand times since its opening in 1869, and can therefore look back on a rich artistic tradition.
