The exhibition will bring together around 150 masterpieces, including 80 works by Gauguin. More than 40 international museums and collections have contributed to the exhibition, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and MoMA in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Tate in London and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid.
The exhibition follows Gauguin’s artistic journey and explores the ideas and creative changes that helped shape modern art. Visitors will also discover works by artists who influenced or worked alongside him, including Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro and Gustave Courbet.
The exhibition continues the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest’s internationally recognised series of exhibitions dedicated to Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art, making it a special addition to Budapest’s cultural calendar.
