On Thursday, 20th JUNE 2019 at 8:45 PM with this free open-air concert on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, which will be broadcast world-wide in fifty countries, the Vienna Philharmonic wishes to provide all Viennese, as well as visitors to the city, with a special musical experience.
The impressive setting of Schönbrunn Palace and its beautiful baroque gardens, a UNESCO world cultural heritage site, form a unique backdrop for this musical gift.
The 2019 programme runs under the title “Rhapsody in Blue”, where Johann Strauss and Anton Dvorak rub shoulders with the likes of Leonard Bernstein and Max Steiner.
Gustavo Dudamel leads this year’s concert. The Venezuelan conductor is no stranger to the Philharmonic, having toured with them throughout North and South America in 2018. He also wielded the baton at the 2017 New Year’s Concert.
